Unified Case Management
I joined TISTA in 2021, with the contract and overhaul for CMS's Unified Case Management software well underway. With an established design language based on Material Design, I found the unique opportunity to focus my efforts on a combination of maturing the design language, leading and integrating user research, and large-scale cross-functional team facilitation and collaboration.

As this overhaul continues, additional responsibilities and efforts will be added to this project.

•  Note: Due to the active NDA on this project, only certain aspects of my work will be discussed.
The Goals
•  Redesign legacy software for the modern age,
•  Centralize externally kept data to ensure data security and accuracy across case management,
•  and minimize the amount of external software required in building, tracking, and maintaining fraud, waste, use, and abuse cases.
Design Challenges and Tasks
•  Identifying shortcomings in legacy systems for next-generation improvements including but not limited to deciphering app-to-app communication issues and its impact on data integrity and user trust.

•  Designing a flexible and scalable entity/subject system that offers a user a full 360 view of a given entity or subject, at any level of available data hierarchy, accounting for permutations that range from a simple one-to-one data hierarchy to a one-to-many (with no known-limits), while ensuring performance and a minimum-viable-product approach.

•  Refining a node-based case map and its integration with existing design systems, employing similar scalability as the entity 360 view.

•  Identifying system-wide opportunities for automation and advanced logic flows in order to minimize the time spent by end users filling out data fields and performing status pushes in order to generate tasks, assignments, and notifications.

•  Bridge the gap between business owners, end-users, subject matter experts, and business analysts to determine and drive the requirements gathering process through both quantitative and qualitative research sessions and organic discovery.

•  A partner in a proactive full-scale design system audit and facelift to align generational design and create usable and scalable design libraries to be leveraged by parent company in additional contracts.
